BRIDGTON, Maine—Longtime diabetes educator Elaine Drew, RN, BSN, CDE, CFCN, has won recertification from her national accrediting board, allowing her to continue to provide top-quality care at Bridgton Hospital.
Drew, who has worked for 42 years and one month, renewed her Certified Diabetes Educator status by successfully completing the rigorous requirements demanded by the National Certification Board for Diabetes Educators. According to the NCBDE, Drew demonstrated her wide and specialized knowledge of the disease, its treatment, management and prevention.
“The hospital encouraged me to get my certification in diabetes, and start the diabetes clinic many, many years ago, and they’ve encouraged me to go on and get my certification in foot care nursing,” Drew said. “All of this has allowed me to help the hospital get our national certification with the American Association of Diabetes Educators.”
