Bridgton Hospital offers Childbirth Education classes to help expectant mothers and their families feel confident and ready to face the wonderful experiences and challenges that await them. Classes include videos, activities and discussion about pregnancy, labor and birth.
Classes give expectant moms and their partners the opportunity to learn more about the process of giving birth. We'll discuss the physical changes that women experience and offer suggestions about finding ways to become more comfortable. We also discuss the stages of labor and practice labor positions. We'll show moms birthing resources such as PT balls and the birthing stool. We will also demonstrate different breathing techniques and learn the vital importance of relaxation. We cover newborn care, postpartum issues, and breastfeeding. (Studies show that new moms who take classes are more prepared, and often have an easier birth experience.)
The birth of your child can be a positive, powerful experience, one that you will carry with you always. Through our Childbirth Education classes we hope to give you the tools necessary to have the best birth experience possible.
