CMMC's Family Medicine Residency Evergreen Sports Medicine Fellowship is a collaboration between Maine-Dartmouth Family Medicine Residency and Central Maine Medical Center. Affiliated orthopedic organizations include Central Maine Orthopaedics and Maine General Orthopaedics.
The fellowship offers a wide range of opportunities in sports medicine. Experiences include care of athlete at Bates and Colby colleges; public sporting events such as the annual Dempsey Challenge; cross country ski coverage at the Bond Brook Recreational Center; high school training room and event coverage throughout central Maine, and coverage of a local junior hockey program.
Fellows will work with a high volume of sports medicine patients, with an emphasis on the amateur and recreational athlete, as well as community sports medicine.
Our Sports Medicine faculty has diverse training and interests, including traditional team athletics, multi-sport events, community and pediatric exercise advocacy and wilderness medicine. From procedural training to hands-on interaction with athletes of all ages, the Sports Medicine Fellowship offers a breadth of experience not usually found in a rural setting.
Successful completion of the program leads to eligibility to sit for added qualification in Sports Medicine for Family Medicine, Emergency Medicine, Pediatric, Internal Medicine, and PM&R trained residents.
