Highlighting its nationally recognized achievements in patient safety and quality, Bridgton Hospital was named a Top Rural Hospital by The Leapfrog Group for the second time. Announced today, the Leapfrog Top Hospital award is widely acknowledged as one of the most competitive honors American hospitals can receive. The Top Hospital designation is awarded by The Leapfrog Group, an independent hospital watchdog organization.
“It’s an honor to be selected as a Leapfrog Top Rural Hospital for the second year in a row. This prestigious recognition is really a tribute to the positive and dedicated efforts of the Bridgton Hospital medical staff to provide top-quality care for our patients every day of the year. As a community hospital, we take pride in the care our family, friends and neighbors receive, and it’s an honor to be recognized by Leapfrog for our work. The recognition holds even more meaning as we approach the end of Bridgton Hospital’s Centennial year. Over the last 100 years, Bridgton Hospital has been an integral part of the Lakes Region. Seeing the impact this hospital and staff have on our local communities makes me proud to lead Bridgton Hospital into its next 100 years,” said David Frum, President of Bridgton Hospital.
Among thousands of hospitals in the country, Bridgton Hospital received a Top Rural Hospital distinction, recognized nationally alongside:
- 10 Top Children’s Hospitals
- 45 Top General Hospitals
- 18 Top Rural Hospitals
- 36 Top Teaching Hospitals
Performance across many areas of hospital care is considered in establishing the qualifications for the award, including infection rates, maternity care, and the hospital’s capacity to prevent medication errors. The rigorous standards are defined in each year’s Top Hospital Methodology.
“We are proud to recognize Bridgton Hospital as a 2017 Leapfrog Top Hospital. This demonstrates extraordinary dedication to patients and the local community. The entire staff and board deserve praise for putting quality first and achieving results,” said Leah Binder, President and CEO of Leapfrog.
To qualify for the Top Hospitals distinction, hospitals must submit a Leapfrog Hospital Survey. The selection of Top Hospitals 2017 is based on surveys from nearly 1,900 hospitals. To see the full list of institutions honored as 2017 Top Hospitals, visit www.leapfroggroup.org/tophospitals.
