Rumford Hospital offers the services of an audiologist on the second and fourth Thursdays of each month from 7:30 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Audiologists diagnose and treat hearing issues. They also evaluate: balance issues, which may be related to the inner ear; and patients who have hearing aids, or have recently had hearing-related surgery, including a cochlear implant.
Several tests are available to determine whether a person has suffered hearing loss, and if so, what type of loss. For many people, a hearing aid can effectively address their hearing loss problem. There are many choices for hearing aids.
Audiologist frequently refer patients to ear, nose and throat surgeons (otolaryngologists).
