About

Central Maine Pediatrics provides care for newborns through 21 years of age. Our providers deliver preventive care, routine physicals, and manage acute and chronic pediatric diseases. They work in collaboration with a pediatric cardiologists, the pediatric hospitalists service, and inpatient neonatologists as well as other pediatric specialty offices. The licensed clinical social worker provides mental health services to the pediatric populations. The services of an on-site psychiatrists are also available. We participate in Patient Centered Medical Home. This program guides our team on how to best meet the CMMC Vision.

Central Maine Pediatrics is committed to educating families and health professionals alike. All care providers work with residents from the CMMC's Family Medicine Residency Program, University of New England College of Osteopathic Medicine students as well as nurse practitioner students.

Routine Services: Central Maine Pediatrics offers a variety of preventive services to our patients including: immunization administration, lead screening, vision screening, developmental screening, Raising Readers and basic dental hygiene. We provide 24 hour telephone RN triage services, same day sick visits, and after hour on call provider service. We provide interpreting services as needed. Our patients have access to outpatient services such as laboratory, radiology, and emergency services within the organization.

Special Services: Tooth protectors, lactation consultants, case management

Lactation Services: If you're experiencing difficulties with breastfeeding or are looking for lactation support, Central Maine Pediatrics is here for you with our in-house Certified Lactation Counselor (CLC). CLCs are members of the health care team who can provide knowledge and counseling about optimal and sub-optimal breastfeeding. CLCs understand that breastfeeding decisions are made by the mother, who may have values and goals different from the counselor. A counseling approach is used to gather information and provide appropriate support to the mother and her family. CLCs work as part of the health care team, assuring appropriate referrals and recommendations. CLCs are qualified to provide education, counseling and clinical management.

Initial newborn appointments are scheduled by the maternity unit. Anyone needing further appointments can call the Central Maine Pediatrics office at 207-795-5730 to schedule an appointment. This service is available to any CMMG patient.

Emergency and Hospital Care: We work closely with the inpatient pediatric hospitalists and neonatologists within CMMC. Our patients have access to a 24 hour emergency department within the facility.
