Frequently Asked Questions
What does this mean for the future of Central Maine Healthcare?
CMH will continue to expand well into the future. We will introduce our model for affordable, convenient, quality healthcare with an emphasis on customer service to new communities throughout the region.
What about Central Maine Medical Center, Bridgton Hospital and Rumford Hospital?
The Lewiston/Auburn campus, as well as Rumford and Bridgton, remain at the core of our clinical programming. Through this new care delivery system, we are now able extend these programs out into the community.
We are also investing in the redevelopment of our campus in Lewiston/Auburn, improving our facility for a better patient and family experience. This includes:
- Master facility upgrades and refurbishments
- Planning for a new Medical Office Building
- Investing in state-of-the-art technology (MRI, 3D Mammography)
What about Mass General?
Recognized worldwide as a leading academic medical center, Massachusetts General Hospital offers the highest level of quality care. CMH’s multidisciplinary affiliation with Mass General enables us to collaboratively develop new programs, enhance existing programs and invest in the latest technology to provide best-in-class options for care.
Why is the cost of my care less at this facility?
Overhead expenses are less outside of the hospital setting. As a result, the cost of providing care is lower. We are pleased to be able to pass those savings on to patients at Topsham Care Center.
