Central Maine Heart and Vascular Institute (CMHVI), part of Central Maine Healthcare, is pleased to welcome Elizabeth Blazick, MD, RPVI, FSVS, to its cardiovascular team. Dr. Blazick is a board-certified vascular surgeon with extensive experience in clinical practice, research and surgical education, and is widely recognized as a leader in her field.
Dr. Blazick completed her general surgery residency and vascular and endovascular surgery fellowship at Massachusetts General Hospital and Harvard Medical School. After training, she worked for nearly a decade at Maine Medical Center, where she served as program director for the Integrated Vascular Surgery Residency, educating and training dozens of vascular surgery residents and students. She then went on to help build the South Portland office of the Vascular Care Group, one of Maine’s highest-volume outpatient-based vascular surgery practices. She remains a recognized leader in vascular surgery, including serving in executive roles of multiple professional organizations including the New England Society for Vascular Surgery, Maine Medical Association and the International Society for Women Vascular Surgeons.
Dr. Blazick will provide the full spectrum of vascular surgical and endovascular care at Central Maine, including carotid revascularization, abdominal aortic aneurysm repair, peripheral bypass surgery, endovascular interventions (stents) and treatment of venous disease. She will also champion disease prevention and will oversee the program’s continuum of care, from vascular laboratory imaging and screening to the ongoing surveillance and management of vascular conditions.
Dr. Blazick says she was drawn to vascular surgery because it combines technical precision, rapid decision-making, and meaningful long-term relationships with patients. Most importantly, she values the opportunity to build lasting relationships and become a trusted partner in her patients’ care.
