Cancer Care Center’s ‘Character’ Emerging
As construction continues on the Cancer Care Center at CMMC, we are getting more glimpses at what the completed project will look like.
Stairs in the common area that will be used by patients, team members and visitors have been installed. Also in place are sliding glass doors for providers’ offices. We are also seeing ceiling tiles and flooring that are in the process of being installed.
Also becoming more visible is the Cancer Center’s pharmacy that will be fitted with special windows designed to allow team members to handle chemotherapy drugs. Hector Tarraza, MD, chief of the Oncology Institute, toured the facility last week and said, “The biggest noticeable change is we are now starting to get a sense of the character of what the Cancer Care Center will be.”
The Cancer Care Center at CMMC is expected to open in spring. It will provide convenient, centralized access to the system’s superior outpatient oncology services, featuring multispecialty team-based care. along with state-of-the-art technology, including new linear accelerators critical for radiation therapy.
