Construction continues at a rapid pace at the new Cancer Care Center at CMMC. A recent peek inside revealed what will be an impressive circular structure above the linear accelerators. As patients are undergoing radiation treatment, they will be able to look up at images of the Milky Way and other celestial scenery. Meanwhile, the elevator shafts for the two-story building are being installed. The Cancer Care Center will provide convenient, centralized access to the system’s superior outpatient oncology services, along with state-of-the-art technology, including new linear accelerators critical for radiation therapy. It will also be home to the Central Maine Cancer Institute, providing multispecialty team-based care.
