Linear Accelerators in Place at Cancer Care Center
The Cancer Care Center at CMMC took a major step toward completion last week with the arrival of our two Varian linear accelerators. These units are the newest in Maine and are designed to harness the latest innovations in the fight against cancer. The advanced, high-precision Varian linear accelerators at CMMC will provide our radiation oncology team and patients with new options for treatment and increase our capabilities in caring for a broad range of cancer cases with unmatched speed and accuracy. The Varian linear accelerators represent one of the major components to be put into place in advance of next month’s scheduled opening of the Cancer Care Center at CMMC.
The linear accelerators are quite heavy, and getting them into the new building was no easy task.
