Central Maine Healthcare this week is honoring its advanced practice providers (APPs).
An APP is a health care provider who is not a physician but who performs medical activities typically performed by a physician.
These exceptional team members are nurse practitioners, physician assistants, certified nurse midwives, certified registered nurse anesthetists, clinical nurse specialists and certified anesthesiologist assistants.
“There are so many reasons to celebrate our APPs,” said Michael Stadnicki, MD, medical division chief, Primary Care. “These team members do more than deliver care; they are educators, experts, mentors and patient advocates. They deserve our gratitude for all that they do throughout the CMH system.”
One of Central Maine Healthcare’s APPs is Becki Mastrianno, CRNA.
As a CRNA, Becki says she has the privilege of being part of a team of providers who bring patients safely through surgery with care, comfort and compassion. It’s a role Becki describes as sometimes intense and stressful, but with “moments of tremendous fulfillment.”
“APPs bring value across the entire organization; from outpatient to hospital-based services, by increasing access to high quality care. I bet nearly every patient who seeks care from CMH interacts with at least one of us!”
On Sept. 27, Central Maine Healthcare treated its APPs to a celebratory breakfast and thanked them for their many contributions to our patients and the entire CMH system.
