Rebecca Fairbanks, RN, works at the Central Maine Medical Center (CMMC) cardiopulmonary telemetry inpatient department as a staff RN. She also functions as a preceptor and trains new nurses.
The DAISY Award is an international recognition program that rewards and celebrates the extraordinary compassionate, skillful care nurses give daily. The DAISY Award honorees personify Central Maine Healthcare’s (CMH) remarkable patient experience.
At CMH, an extraordinary nurse:
- Provides compassionate, high-quality nursing care.
- Fosters a patient and family-centered experience.
- Creates a culture that empowers and supports all team members.
- Displays professional excellence and is a role model for the nursing profession.
- Is passionate about the work they do for the community they serve.
DAISY Award honorees are nominated by patients. In this case, a patient named Michael Colby wrote the following:
“Rebecca certainly exemplifies the honor of a DAISY-awarded nurse. Her demeanor and bedside manner are second to none. She treats her patients calmly and caringly and is very candid and informative about our care. I spent weeks under her care and always felt heard and understood.”
“We are all extraordinarily proud of Rebecca,” said Kris Chaisson, BSN, MS, RN, CCRN-K, NEA-BC, senior vice president of nursing and patient care services, Central Maine Healthcare. “It is always gratifying to have your work recognized, but to be nominated by a patient who was under your care is especially meaningful.”
