TOPSHAM, Maine—If your heart’s a-flutter in February, it could just be the way your Valentine makes you feel. But since it’s American Heart Month, it’s also a great reminder to learn more about your cardiovascular health.
Central Maine Healthcare invites the public to its Topsham Care Center on Feb. 25 for an informative presentation on atrial fibrillation, a condition that causes an irregular and often rapid heart rate. It’s estimated that about nine percent of Americans aged 65 and older have AFib, which is not always dangerous but can cause stroke or other serious health problems.
Dr. Adheesh Agnihotri, M.D., a board-certified cardiac electrophysiologist, will offer the latest medical intelligence on AFib and take questions on its diagnosis and treatment.
Cardiac electrophysiology is a subspecialty of cardiology concerned with diagnosing and treating disturbances in the electrical activities of the heart.
The event will take place at 5 p.m. in the Community Room at the Topsham Care Center, 105 Topsham Fair Mall Road, Topsham. Light refreshments will be served.
