Newsweek, a weekly national news publication, has named Central Maine Medical Center (CMMC) one of the best hospitals in the nation for maternity.
Newsweek evaluated U.S. hospital maternity departments using three pillars: an online survey of health care professionals and hospital managers with knowledge of maternity processes, results from patient experience surveys and consideration of hospital quality metrics, according to Newsweek.
“It’s so great to see CMMC’s maternity unit get this sort of national recognition,” said Rebecca Brakeley, MD, chief of women’s and children’s health at Central Maine Healthcare. “Having a baby is one of the most transformative, joyful, but also often stressful times in a parent’s life. That is why it’s good to know our entire team of physicians, nurses and other support staff are recognized as being among the best in the nation in taking care of new mothers.”
CMMC has also been recognized as “High Performing in Maternity Care” by U.S. News & World Report.
When a baby is born at CMMC, a chime that is heard around the hospital is played to share the good news.
