Central Maine Medical Center (CMMC) offers childbirth education and breastfeeding classes online because an important part of prenatal care is understanding your pregnancy, labor, childbirth and newborn care.
Childbirth Education Class
This interactive online course covers essential information on pregnancy, labor and beyond, as well as highlights ways partners can help throughout the process. You’ll also get a sense of what labor is like as you watch several real birth stories. Other topics include:

- Newborns and Postpartum
Understanding Breastfeeding Class
This interactive online course covers the essentials of breastfeeding, including videos and animated examples. You will learn when to call for help and your partner will learn tips on how to support you. You will also be able to track feedings with an easy-to-use tracker! Topics include:
- How Breastfeeding Works
- How to Breastfeed
- When to Feed Your Baby
- Getting Enough Milk
- Breast Care
- Breastfeeding Lifestyle

Included with your registration, a CMMC certified childbirth educator and/or certified lactation consultant is available for questions via email (or phone upon request) as you progress through the online course(s). You’ll have access to the class for nine months and may progress at your own pace or re-watch any content again. You can even watch and then review with your partner or support person!
