LA Offers the Best of Maine
Lewiston and Auburn sit on the banks of the mighty Androscoggin River, which once powered the textile mills that turned these small towns into bustling centers of commerce around the turn of the 20th century. Although the mill era has long passed, the two cities remain vital urban hubs to the rural communities of south central and western Maine.
Although technically considered an urban area, LA, (as it’s known to Mainers) feels more like a small town. The people who live here appreciate everything LA has to offer in-town – great restaurants, access to the arts, great music venues, historical treasures — as well as out of town. In less than an hour, you can start a mountain hike or ski down a beautifully groomed slope. If the ocean calls to you – sand beaches and rocky coastline are also less than an hour away to the East. And there are so many other beautiful natural treasures to explore throughout Maine – state parks, forests, rivers, lakes and historical sites, for example.
Like many communities in Maine, LA has a rich history where connections run deep — to the area, to the people — and to keeping this a healthy, vibrant place to live and enjoy life.
